The July 2006 wedding also needed a sheet cake for serving. The ikebana cake was the presentation for the traditional cake cutting, but one 9 inch cake wasn't going to feed 50 or more people.
I made this sheet cake to go with it. I wasn't terribly concerned with the look of it, as it was going to be cut up behind the scenes before service, but I needed a way to clue the servers in to what lay within.
The cake within is vanilla to the left, chocolate on the right, designated by the color of the 'rocks' (yogurt and chocolate covered raisins, respectively). The idea was that everyone could have the cake of their
choice - chocolate or white, with chocolate or white frosting as they preferred.
